“Martin has been a great asset in supporting COPAL growing our individual donor portfolio. He provided a detailed plan of engagement and supported our staff and board members to engage individuals in a meaningful way, while staying true to the values of our organization and community.”

Project Summary
About
The mission of COPAL is to build collective power, transform systems, and create opportunities for Latines to have a dignified life in Minnesota. Started in 2018, COPAL has evolved to become a well-known, grass roots power-building, and visionary transnational organization.
Challenge
In listening to its members and the Latine community, COPAL purchased a building on Lake St. in Minneapolis that was damaged during the 2020 summer protests, with a vision to build the Latino Center for Community Engagement (LCCE). Although COPAL is seeking support for the LCCE from local government, private foundations, and corporations, staff also knew they needed to grow support from individuals too to make the vision a reality.
Solution
COPAL contracted with Connecting Points Consulting to listen to its strongest supporters and develop a campaign plan to guide its work in engaging individual donors. In addition, Connecting Points would provide training and coaching to COPAL staff and board members to help them build the long-term capacity to nurture strong relationships with their supporters
Outcome
Six months into the campaign, COPAL increased individual donations by 100% over the previous year. This was accomplished by both bringing in new donors as well as successfully engaging current donors to increase their giving.
